The story behind the piece

Approved by Lagerfeld himself

The collaboration between Karl Lagerfeld and Medicom Toy was personally validated by Lagerfeld in 2018, then produced under the direction of his longtime collaborators Jean Roch and Sébastien Jondeau.

Released in 2022, never repeated

The Kaiser was released as an official, one-time edition, limited to 1,999 individually numbered pieces worldwide. No second run has ever been produced.

Built to Lagerfeld's own palette

Painted rotocast vinyl in beige, white, grey, black and red, referencing the white collar, dark glasses, grey ponytail and gloves that defined his silhouette, at 70 cm / 1000% scale.

Each of our 40 pieces ships with its original certificate of authenticity and box. We photograph and log every unit before it leaves our hands.

1933 to 2019

The man behind the Kaiser

Karl Lagerfeld was born in Hamburg in 1933 and moved to Paris in 1952, launching a career that spanned more than six decades. He became creative director of Chanel in 1983, reviving a house many considered finished, while also leading Fendi and his own eponymous label. He died in Paris in February 2019, having reshaped fashion until his final years.

Is this piece officially licensed?

Yes. The Kaiser is an official collaboration between Karl Lagerfeld and Medicom Toy, personally approved by Lagerfeld in 2018 and released in 2022. It is not a fan-made or unofficial reproduction.

Can I request a specific edition number?

Yes, if you have one in mind. Mention it in your message when you reserve and we'll confirm whether it's one of the 40 pieces we currently hold.

What happens after I submit a reservation?

Yes. Every Kaiser we sell ships with its original certificate of authenticity and box, exactly as it was released by Medicom Toy in 2022.
